Threads

Beginning 2nd book in Field series. I plan to make 3. I will use the same size and format for each book. A stretch canvas 18+24 cm will be used for front and back covers, strengthened with gesso and it will have 7 pages.
I use my embellisher, I love my embellisher, to construct a background fabric which I will decorate with hand and machine stitching.

Can you spot the difference? One has been washed over with fabric dye to unify the colours.

Next week I hope to have the covers finished and in place on the book and make a start on the pages.

With a little help from Orange Esmeralda I have managed to get this post out. Hopefully it will be easier and quicker next Sunday.
See you on Sunday 5.00 Be sure not to miss it.
Bye Bye

  1. First of all I loved seeing your baskets of threads, a gorgeous array.
Then I was fascinated by what you made with your embellisher, a beautiful fabric.
And finally how clever (and brave) to wash over all your stitching and fabric with a dye, you're right, it did unify it and made quite a difference.
I'm very much enjoying following your progress on your new blog, it's good.

    1. Thank you so much for looking at my blog. This is very new to me so lot of hiccups before I pressed publish. An embellisher looks like a sewing machine but has no needles to thread. How cool is that My machine has 7 needles which push the top fabric into the bottom fabric and the bottom up to the top. The effect is a bit like felting. lovely for making new fabric

  4. hahaha...I see you have already figured out the time consumption that is known as blogging. Kiss your art goodbye! bwahahahaha.....JUST KIDDING! but not really. (I could be creating, but here I am blogging). This work in progress looks fantastic. You've already answered my question as to what an embellisher is and now I'd love to see a photo of it. It sounds fascinating. Is your lovely banner piece made with this mysterious embellisher as well?
